August 2010 Wrapping Up Summer In Michigan
Micaela Won A Contest! - Check out the article written by John Liberty for the Kalamazoo Gazette. Micaela won the 2010 Indiegrrl International Songwriting Contest and now we’ll be headlining at their festival in Knoxville, TN later this month!
New Free Music - Check out some new additions on music.ryanandrewsmusic.com -- Dubessy features dubstep remixes of classic Debussy compositions (as well as some Stravinsky and Ravel). Also up are some remixes from Requiem. Keep on the lookout for the fruit of a new collaborative electronic music project between John Knific and myself.

CitizenGroove - I’m now a member of the CitizenGroove team! I encourage anyone to check out the very cool things this technology company is doing to connect musicians, the music industry and music institutions.
Farewell, Michigan! - I’m heading down to Miami in a couple weeks to start graduate courses at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. I’m very excited to be moving down to Florida and to be working with such a great faculty including Gary Lindsay, Steve Rucker and Shelton Berg. I’ll be performing at the Union in downtown Kalamazoo on August 12th-14th with fellow Miami-bound musicians Randy Gist and Gene Knific (and permanent MI resident Tom Knific). Come catch us while we’re still here!

May 2010 - DOWNBEAT STUDENT AWARDS
Awards - I’m thrilled to be able to announce that myself and the groups I play in have received three Downbeat Student Awards this year! Here’s a cool article about it in the WMU News. The awards include:
Blues/Pop/Rock Soloist - College Undergraduate Winner
Blues/Pop/Rock Group - College Undergraduate Winner (Compendium)
Blues/Pop/Rock Group - College Undergraduate Outstanding Performance (Ryan Andrews Group)
Thanks to everyone on the Requiem project and my bandmates in Compendium for rocking the awards this year! Galen (singer with Compendium and featured on Requiem) won a handful of awards and Randy Gist (saxophonist on Requiem) got one as well. Congrats, guys!

April 2010 - FAST FORWARD SELECTOR
Getting To Know Ryan Andrews - this article by Alyssa Herter appeared in the Western Herald on April 22 -- kinda neat!
On The Road Wrap-up - It’s been awhile since the last update! The REQUIEM TOUR wrapped up a successful run in New York and the next day I was starting a two-week long tour with First Take, culminating with a headlining spot at the Brandon Jazz Festival. After that, headed out to Wyoming to help celebrate the release of Alycia Vince’s duet CD, If It Wasn’t For You -- listen to a sample on the MEDIA page!
New Drums! - I’ve also changed up my gear in the last month or so with the purchase of some new drums from Taye! As my main kit I’m now using a 6-piece Taye StudioMaple and have a GoKit as well for light gigs.
The Summer So Far - Be sure to check out the ITINERARY page for updates on performances as the summer starts filling up. Watch for performances with singer/guitarist/songwriter Micaela Kingslight and pianist Mike Jellick (the most respected pianist in Chicago), among others. Starting Friday, April 30, be sure to check out the Wine Loft in downtown Kalamazoo as it will be featuring some of Southwest Michigan’s finest jazz musicians every Friday night! Additionally I’ll be doing some work for Lyle Mays at the Gilmore Keyboard Festival and I’ll be on staff at the Keith Hall Summer Drum Intensive. If you’re interested in having some great music at your event this summer, feel free to get in touch with me -- just check the CONTACT page (and join the mailing list while you’re at it!)

March 2010 - Other New Stuff
TRANSCRIPTIONS and more! - DRUMMERS! Take note and be sure to check out the ever-expanding TRANSCRIPTIONS page, where you can find transcribed drum solos from modern jazz greats including Clarence Penn, Carl Allen, Brian Blade, Ferenc Nemeth, Antonio Sanchez and more. You can also find a link to my presentation on Tony Williams, a project from my final semester at Western Michigan University. Also new to the site are embedded Google calendars here on the home page and on the ITINERARY page. More features and cool stuff coming soon...

February 2010 - New CDs!
Gradus Quartet - ‘Nice Driveway’ now available! - while waiting for the CD to become widely available, just give me an email at ryanandrewsmusic@gmail.com or check out ryanandrews.bandcamp.com to get ahold of the legacy of one of the hottest jazz groups to come out of West Michigan. Featuring a collection of all original tunes by guitarist Adam Smale (and one by myself!), this quartet also features Denis Shebukhov on bass and Nick Mainella on saxophone. Head to the MEDIA page to give a listen to some tracks!
Miles - As Fast As You Can - The long-anticipated new Miles album is here! Masterminded by Marc Plotkin and Ben Jacobs (both of whom will be appearing on the upcoming Requiem Tour), this record is a pop rock tour-de-force to be reckoned with. Give it a listen or download the album (name your own price!) here. I’m proud to have contributed the drum tracks to a couple songs--listen in on my MEDIA page.
Also Of Note... - Just wrapped up a recording session with Tom Knific and Fred Hersch for an upcoming Tom Knific record. Also featured on the record are friends and mentors Keith Hall, Chris Beckstrom, and John Knific.

August 2009 - Spain Blog
I’m now officially back in the States after my summer-long adventure to Spain and Western Europe -- feel free to check out my BLOG from that trip. I’m currently back to playing with Compendium and various other groups in the Western Michigan area, as well as fronting several of my own projects.

April 2009 - REQUIEM now available!
My debut album as a leader featuring all original music, Requiem, is now available! The album is available through cdbaby.com and can be downloaded digitally through DigStation. Also available as a digital download from iTunes, Amazon, and several other online vendors.

April 2009 - PRESS about REQUIEM: These articles about the album were featured in the Western Michigan University homepage, www.wmich.edu, and appeared in the Kalamazoo Gazette. Check it out!
